Explosives-Laden Drone Strikes Devastate Key Iraqi Oil Fields

(MENAFN) Early Wednesday, three oil fields in northern Iraq suffered drone attacks loaded with explosives, inflicting major damage to critical infrastructure while sparing human lives, the Kurdish Regional Government (KRG) confirmed.

The KRG’s Ministry of Natural Resources issued a strong condemnation of the strikes targeting the Tawke, Peshkhabur, and Ain Sifni oil fields, located in the Zakho and Duhok regions.

“Although the attacks did not result in any casualties, they caused significant damage to the infrastructure of the fields,” the statement read.

The official report detailed that between 6:00 and 6:15 a.m. local time (0300-0315 GMT), two explosive drones hit the Peshkhabur oil field, followed by a third drone strike on the Tawke field at approximately 7:00 a.m. (0400 GMT).

As of now, no organization has stepped forward to claim responsibility for the assaults.
